Holybank
We took the kids and bikes to Holybank Forest. It was so beautiful there today. You would have swore we were still in the middle of Autumn. Emma had alot of fun jumping in a puddle, perfect photo opportunity for mum! The boys climbed trees and rode their bikes. We had a great time even though it was very cold and threatening rain (which thankfully waited till we got home).

For mum. Ovarian cancer. 2002. I miss you more than anyone could possibly know, it still hurts not to have you here. It's lonely without you.
For Nan. Lung Cancer. 1993. Only you would have understood.

Garden
We have spent the last 7 years renovating the INSIDE of our house, now that that is pretty much done, its time to make a start on the OUTSIDE!
I am really looking forward to this because I enjoy gardening and have really missed one to potter in. So today dh and I went and bought a handful of plants and an apple tree! I have a little corner of the garden ready to go and we plan to just build on to it through out spring and summer.
We also have more brick work and cementing to do. Last summer dh and I discovered we are pretty good at concreting. He's good at mixing and the heavy stuff and I am good at the trowelling and finishing so we make a good pair..lol
This is a blossom on our nectarine tree. I love spring and all the daffodials and blossom trees.. finally some colour after a grey winter!

Beach
Great day today. Dh and I and four of the kids headed off mid morning to check out a prospective camping spot for summer. It looks like the perfect spot for us, lots of shade, nice amenties and right on the beach! So we are booking a spot for end of Jan and hoping the weather gods are kinds to us!
It was also the perfect opportuniy for me to practice shooting in full sun, oh boy what a challenge but I did alot better than I expected.. the brain hasn't turned completely to mush after all. ;)
She was feeding them her bread and loving the attention from the seagulls.

Pictures
We go through alot of paper in this house, Ethan and Emma love to draw. Ethan has started putting such concentration into his drawings, I love watching him.
Emma likes to draw too. Mostly on paper but if you are not watching she will colour in her hands and face as well!
ps. Ethan helped her on this one.. she is NOT that artistic at 2.. lol

Smile
Today was one of those days where you wish you could just stay in bed and sleep.
I have had two little people down with colds the last two weeks. You know the good old common cold.. hacking cough and snotty noses that they insist on smearing across their faces. One of those colds thats necessitates numerous calls outs during night that must be answered and days where they just want to sit on your knee (and wipe said snot on YOU instead of on their faces for a change).
Needless to say I have been elevated to zombie status this week and wondering if I will ever sleep through the night again on a regular basis. The last time it happened was about 5 years ago... Apparently all but one of my kids was born with a faulty sleep gene.
Thankfully DH has the day off tommorrow so that means a sleep in for mummy and thats a GOOD thing and makes me happy.. and you know what they say.. when mama is happy,
EVERYONE is happy.

Boys up to no good
On the way up to see my dad on the weekend we stopped off for food.
They have this cool little corner with a blackboard where kids can draw with the chalk provided.
The BIG kids amused themselves for a while.
You might have to look closely to see whats so funny... (click on the pic to see it larger)
Never listen to your big brothers when they say.. stand over here so mum can take a picture....

A day for me
Got to have a nice little sleep in this morning (dh's day off :p ). Went off to the city ON MY OWN! It was so nice to wander around and actually look at things, picked up a little top for Emma in Pumpkin Patch it was marked down from $22 to $7 all because of an almost undetectable little spot on the front! Bargain!!
Did some sewing this afternoon and am really pleased with how it turned out. I had no pattern for this, just copied it from another top Emma has. I have been lurking on a sewing forum and they were discussing how to do shirring, it sounded easy and it was!
Off to see my dad tommorrow. SIL and neice are over from WA visiting so it will be nice to see them again.

Today
Day at home today. I've folded washing, cleaned house, got on and off the treadmill a couple of times (sorting arguments!). I am heading out for dinner tonight with some friends. We all get together every six months or so. Looking forward to it.
Weaning Emma off her dummy (paci) dependancy and its going well. She went all day yesterday and didn't ask for them once! She has asked a couple of times today but I can tell she KNOWS mummy aint going to get them and that they now only come out at bedtime.
I had a little play around today with using a backdrop (black fleece), pretty happy with the results, although I dont think it's really "my thing". Was so pleased to actually get a shot of Emma looking at the camera and in focus too! She moves about so much it's not an easy task! Ethan was more co operative.
