Just her and I

Three mornings a week now its just her and I and I really enjoy those mornings, doing things with her or just watching her play. She is so imaginitive and its so cute to sit and listen to her little made up games.

This week she has a cold and has been miserable but a new Dora jigsaw cheered her up a bit and kept her busy for a while before she moved onto playing house.

FIVE!! Ok how did that happen.. how did you suddenly get to be FIVE. I am sure it was only last month that I brought this tiny little baby boy home. It was only last week that you took your first steps.. It was only yesterday that you were four..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my sweet little boy.

Tuesday 22 May 2007

I have had parent teacher meetings the last two days with Jacob and Ethan's teachers. They are both doing well and got glowing reports. Makes me so proud.. and reassures me I am doing something right as a parent ;)

We had a quiet day at home today, Ethan, Emma and I. I got the camera out for a little play, there was some lovely light coming in through the doors. I was pleased to get a couple of pictures of Emma actually looking at me (it helped that I had her little sunglasses on and surely looked hilarious..lol) Ethan was to engrossed in what he was doing to pay me any attention, silly sunglasses or not..

Just a few pics from the weekend. Grandma, who has been staying with us for the last 10 weeks, went back to New Zealand on the weekend so we spent Saturday moving Jacob back into his room and tidying up. Sunday we took a drive to visit my dad. We stopped on the way for a leg stretch. Try as I might to get some decent pictures of my 5 in a beautiful autumn setting, they refused to oblige so it was a case of snap and run.. (me snapping.. them running!)

Yummiest caramel slice ever!

You will need..

1 pkt Arnotts Milk coffee biscuits (250g pack/8oz)
(which looks something like this for the americans and is a plain sweet cookie?)
4oz (125g) butter
1tbs Golden Syrup
3tbs brown sugar
1/2 can ( or a little over 1/2 a cup) condensed milk
1 block (125g (4oz) approx) Cadbury dairy milk chocolate
2oz copha (vegetable shortening)

Line a lamington tin (small 11in x 7in rectangular pan) with enough biscuits to cover bottom, trim to fit if needed. Crush rest of biscuits finely. In a saucepan melt butter with golden syrup, condensed milk and brown sugar, bring to boil and simmer, stirring, for 8 minutes. Mix the crushed biscuits into the butter mixture and carefully spread over biscuit base.
Melt chocolate and copha together and pour over top, allow to set in refrigerator and enjoy!

From my garden

I bought some potted Chrysanthemums over the weekend.. mark downs left over from Mothers Day and planted them in the garden. The bulbs I planted before winter are just starting to shoot and I am looking forward to them producing some colour in my garden in the next month or so when the cold dreary days of winter really set in.

I love flowers. They always make me feel happy and I always wanted a garden full of colour and flowers all year round. Working on it!

Happy Mothers Day

For Mothers Day we visited a local market. It was a nice morning out and we had a nice lunch while we were there.

Jacob, daddy and Emma took a ride with a horse and cart.

While Ethan goes it alone on the pony.

Me with 4 of 5

Off on a little train ride.. Emma decided at the last minute that she didn't want to be on the train..lol

Jumpy castle fun..

Emma got acquainted with Mickey

Showing off her spoils..

Wednesday 2 May 2007

I am notorious for starting things and not finishing them.. for instance there is a lovely cross stitch sitting in my cupboard for Emma.. its all finished bar her birth date being embroided on it. I started it before I was even pregnant with her. She will be THREE next month. A box full of material that I bought with the intention of making a particular bit of clothing out of.. I'll get there..lol

So I thought I would post two projects that I am doing at the moment. Now I will HAVE to post the finished project at some point.

That'll work ..... right?

Ethan wanted a blanket to snuggle under.

This is destined to be a cardi for Emma.. I am making it a size bigger on purpose..rofl!

My Kitchen

After eight years of renovating I finally feel like my house is getting to where I want it, especially my kitchen which till recently was still something of a blank canvas. But I am finally looking at it and liking it, like being it, like cooking in it, like the way the sun streams in in the morning .. just really liking it!
